PREAH VIHEAR
DISCOVER A KHMER ARCHITECTURAL TREASURE
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Preah Vihear temple perches atop a high ridge in the Dangrek Mountains overlooking the plains of Cambodia’s Preah Vihear Province, near by the Thai border. Built in the early 9th century, this pre-Angkorian temple played a key role in spiritual life during the Khmer Empire and is an architectural treasure. Constructed along a north-south axis, the temple complex comprises several sanctuaries all dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva that are linked together by grandiose paved paths and sets of steps. The well-preserved site is exceptional for the quality of its carved stone ornamentations representing a stylized version of Mount Meru, the Hindu home of the gods

O'PA ENCOUNTER
A MYSTERIOUS TRIBE
Meet the mysterious O’Pa tribe, a sub-group of the Akha people who live deep within the Phu Sang (Elephant Mountain), a wild mountain range running along the south of Phongsaly Province in northern Laos. Settled in sanctuary villages within a natural cradle of life overlooking Nam Ly and Nam Ou River, the approximately 700 O’Pa are part of the Tibeto-Burman language family with a rich history of traditions and culture transmitted orally from one generation to another.
Join O’Pa women in their daily tasks. During the crucial green season, help cultivate the slash-and-burn farmland by weeding or harvesting the land. During dry season, work with locals in the orchards and plant vegetables, clear the fields using fire-fallow cultivation techniques, sow seeds, or fetch wood from the nearby forests. At the same time learn about ancestral handicrafts and admire the elaborate headdresses and colorful costumes of the O’Pa
